When choosing a place to stay in Puerto Vallarta, I really wasn’t sure where to begin. I ended up in Conchas Chinas and am so happy I did!

Tucked away just south of the busy Old Town, it’s like a little slice of paradise that offers the best of both worlds: peace and quiet within walking distance (or a short taxi ride) to all the action.

First off, the views. They’re absolutely stunning! Picture yourself taking a leisurely stroll on the sandy beach or just chilling out on your balcony, soaking in the scene. You have the ocean stretching out before you, sparkling in the sunlight, while behind it, there are lush green hills that seem to go on forever.

Now, onto the food – My friend and I couldn’t believe our luck when we found a restaurant called La Playita. We ate there every day and sometimes twice a day!

Not only are the views from the restaurant absolutely gorgeous — oceanfront dining with waves crashing nearby – but the food is incredible. From mouthwatering ceviche to rich and flavorful mole, every meal was a delight. And the best part? The prices were totally reasonable (most meals under $10), especially considering the top-notch quality and the unbeatable ambiance.

My friend and I ate breakfast there every day (and many lunches and dinners) while soaking in the beautiful sights. One morning we saw a group of manta rays jumping through the water. Another morning, we spotted whales in the distance.

We tried many different meals, but the breakfast fruit tray was my favorite way to start each day. Every meal, I had the same thought – I can’t believe my luck to be sitting in this beautiful spot on this January day.

The staff at La Playita were incredible too. They welcomed us like old friends every time we walked in, with big smiles and genuine warmth. It’s the kind of hospitality that makes you feel right at home, and it definitely added an extra layer of joy to our dining experience.

Wondering how to use points and miles to get to Puerto Vallarta? I recommend signing up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred and using the sign up bonus on either flights or your hotel. Flights can be purchased through the Chase portal or by transferring the points to United. Another great option travel card option for a trip to Mexico is the Barclays Aadvantage Aviator card.

The Lindomar Hotel is next door to La Playita and offers apartment-style condos with ocean view balconies. We chose an Airbnb just steps from the water and would definitely recommend it.

Another option is to transfer the points to Hyatt to book the Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta All-Inclusive Resort in Conchas Chinas.

Conchas Chinas impressed me with its peaceful vibe, stunning views, and incredible food. Once you experience the charm of Conchas Chinas for yourself, you’ll be hooked too!
